Carlos Tevez, the victim of paparazzi
05 Oct 2007
Carlos Tevez became an overnight sensation after he successfully led Argentina to a gold medal win in 2004 Olympics at Athens where he scored six goals from eight games. He returned back home to a hero’s welcome with the national media praising him to the skies and he became a sort of a paparazzi favorite. In the beginning it was quite flattering and Carlos Tevez enjoyed every bit of it.
But as paparazzi mounted it’s hounding, Carlos Tevez began squirming with impatience. His wild romance with actress and model Natalia Fassi and the exploding news that another girlfriend Vanessa was pregnant with his child has been widely reported in the media and virtually robbed his peace and privacy. Soon Carlos Tevez was found indulging in brawls with photographers, journalists, and his fans to let loose them off his tail. His personal life became a chaotic and a disorganized one. He began to loose his cool at the slightest offense.
His egocentric behavior has had its effect on his professional life. Jose Peckerman, the Argentina coach dumped him from the national squad and Atletico Madrid dropped its plans to buy him. He felt betrayed by his own nation and left Argentina in a huff to Brazil and joined Corinthians for a handsome fee of $22.5 million.
At Corinthians Carlos Tevez was entangled in a different kind of a problem. His highest pay and special treatment meted out to him at Corinthians has caused resentment among his teammates and antagonized him. His fight with defender Marquinos didn’t escape the media’s attention and the entire ugly episode was aired on television. His swearing at the referee and his sexy remarks against the women officials has all put him in bad light.
